How to Crooked Grind, Step by Step

  1. Approach the ledge at an angle with your weight slightly forward.
  2. Ollie and turn the board so the nose locks on the edge at an angle.
  3. Land on the front truck with the side of the nose pressed against the ledge.
  4. Push your weight down through the front foot to hold the lock.
  5. Turn the board straight and pop out at the end.

Crooked Grind Tips

  • The lock is what makes it a crook. Too straight and it is a nosegrind.
  • Backside crooks are usually easier because you can see the ledge.
  • Wax helps a lot. A dry ledge stops you dead.
